We are a frontline foundation providing public policy interventions, socio-economic research and innovative solutions to national and global institutions towards an inclusive and sustainable society. Clement Isong Foundation (CIF) was set up to immortalize the name, virtues, and legacy late Chief (Dr.) Clement Nyong Isong, CFR (1920-2000). He was a world-renown, frontline nationalist, expert economist, a seasoned banker, and an Elder statesman. Since its establishment in May 2006, the foundation has been forging creative collaborations and partnerships with NGOs, governments, corporations, and individuals to drive faster and better socio-economic research and policy solutions to help facilitate inclusive and sustainable societies. We are focused on delivering: Economic Research & Innovation; Policy and Governance Reforms, Education, and Institutional Capacity Strengthening.

Clement Isong Foundation (CIF) was set up to immortalize the name, virtues, & legacy late Chief (Dr.) Clement Nyong Isong, CFR (1920-2000). He was a world-renown, frontline nationalist, expert economist, a seasoned banker, and an Elder statesman. He has been honoured with his portrait on Nigeria's highest currency - the one thousand naira note - an honour he shares with the first indigenous governor of Central Bank of Nigeria - Alhaji Aliyu Mai-Bornu.

Since its establishment in May 2006, the Foundation has been forging creative collaborations and partnerships with NGOs, governments, corporations, and individuals to drive faster and better socio-economic research and policy solutions to help facilitate inclusive and sustainable #societies.

We are focused on delivering: Economic Research & Civic Innovation; Policy Advocacy and Governance Reforms; Education and Institutional Capacity Strengthening; Social Service and Civil Society Strengthening; and Gender and Youth Programming.

Where We Work

Clement Isong Foundation works in Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, FCT, and across the 6 geo-political zones in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.

Meet Clement Isong

Clement Nyong Isong, CFR (20 April 1920 – 29 May 2000) was a Nigerian banker and politician who was governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (1967–1975) during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon. He was later elected governor of Cross River State (1979–1983) in the Nigerian Second Republic.

He studied at University College, Ibadan, Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and the Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, where he obtained a Ph.D. in Economics.

He taught economics at the University of Ibadan before joining the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as secretary, later becoming director of research.

He was seconded to the International Monetary Fund as an adviser in the African Department.
