Developing a Youth Demand Charter: Towards Setting a Policy Dialogue with Political Actors

Clement Isong Foundation organised a Twitter Space on Akwa Ibom Youth Demand Charter to engage Political Actors on a blueprint that articulates the
aspiration of the people.

The Objectives of Youth Demand Charter Twitter Spaces is

• To inspire young people to generate specific asks for the Agenda Setting Policy Dialogue with Governorship Candidates

• To awaken youth consciousness on critical issues that should be prioritized for inclusion in the youth demand charter.

• To identify Youth Priority Issue that should shape policy conversation ahead of the 2023 Gubernatorial Election in Akwa Ibom.

In the course of the conversation panelists and participants made key recommendations

Skills and Mentoring should be critical in activating a mindset shift for young people to drive the process.

The culture of seeking mentorship is weak. Seeking and Providing mentorship is a critical need for a society to grow.

Matching Skilled Adult with Fresh Graduates and Youth.

You can’t shave a man’s head in his absence. Empowerment to youth is different from what empowerment is what someone else. Young people must define their own problem and priorities.

Are tools needed to navigate towards having a youth charter

“What a child sees is what he becomes”, hence we should be intentional in reshaping mindset of young people.

Efforts should be made to awaken youth consciousness on critical issues that should be prioritized for inclusion in the youth demand charter.
